Fuori Salone Milan 2012: the programme and dates of Tortona Design Week 2012


“Dal 17 al 22 aprile, la zona compresa tra via Tortona, via Savona e via Stendhal, ospita la seconda edizione della Tortona Design Week, trasformandosi ancora una volta in contenitore trasversale di creatività.”

Al Magna Pars in via Tortona 15, tutti gli spazi sono dedicati all’evento home spa design “Abitare il Design – Emotional Living“:una grande mostra sul tema del design emozionale attraverso il progetto, la creatività e la cultura contemporanea dove la qualità progettuale incontra la qualità espositiva tra innovazione e perfezione.

Al Superstudio 13, in via Forcella 13, c’è quest’anno Temporary Museum for New Design/Extension. Negli storici studi fotografici il percorso attraverso le sale di posa parte da Leucos, che festeggia i 50 anni di attività nel mondo della luce con l’installazione artistica di stalattiti di vetro rosso inserita tra opere G.Toso, Javier Mariscal e Danilo De Rossi, e continua con le mostre dell’urban living della danese HOWE, le sculturali forme dei biocamini disegnati da Christoph Pillet e Charles Kalpakian per la polacca Planika, tavoli e sedie in lamiera recuperata e pressata del brasiliano Laço / Alê Jordão, la nuova collezione dell’italianissima HIKO, per finire con i Selected Objects, piccole installazioni di arredi e complementi di interessanti brand internazionali, accomunati dal contenuto innovativo e creativo insieme.
The Studio at via Tortona 28 is transformed into the Casa of Agatha Ruiz de la Prada by major international brands, where the illustrious Spanish fashion designer will lead visitors into her magical world of the home characterised by brightly coloured cartoon icons.
At the Carrozzeria location in Via Tortona 32, the highly anticipated and award-winning Japanese designer Nendo seduces the audience with the elegance and purity of his design. Simple materials such as glass and wire mesh are transformed into poetic objects. At the same address, Nespresso, with a project by Piero Lissoni, reinterprets the post-industrial space of the Torneria as a container for multi-sensory experiences, an emotional space infused with visions. At the heart of the project is the Nespresso capsule. The Dutch contingent is large this year in Via Tortona with two exhibitions.  On the one hand, New Duivendrecht the new brand of designers Frederik Roijè and Victor le Noble, with an exhibition that goes back to the heart of Dutch Design: solid, practical, sustainable with quality products at affordable prices. They will be joined by the brands Weltevree with a special re-edition of its collection, De Vorm with a selection of new chairs, and Studio Frederik Roijè that will be present with a romantic installation (in the Officine della Torneria, Via Novi 5).

The Padiglione Visconti, the rehearsal hall of the Teatro alla Scala, hosts France Design, the largest exhibition on transalpine design ever held in Milan. 1200 square metres of young talent, for the first time together, the VIA creativity platform with the most prestigious design institutions and schools, leading contemporary designers and Les Maison d’Edition.

At Opificio 31, a large post-industrial courtyard in continuous transformation, Tortona Locations will offer a path along which to explore new languages and worlds of national and international design. Immediately at the entrance, there is an installation conceived by Paola Navone at her new studio for Merci. For the first time in Italy, the Parisian concept store with a charitable purpose entrusts the “grande dame” of Italian design with a reinterpretation of its iconic objects. In the Gommista, the launch of the Italian brand HOMMM is celebrated with a collection by Brazilian designer Ricardo Antonio. A new idea born from the encounter of European rigour with the chic-tropical concept.
