The renovation of a penthouse in Bergamo with a sixhanded intervention

Transforming an attic by giving it a new shape and character: this was the aim of the renovation project that saw architect Daniela Mannucci Benincasa as designer of the interior layout and works manager, architect Massimo Castagna as manager of  the lighting project, and Zenucchi Design Code responsible for the supply of furniture, wall coverings, doors, lighting and accessories selected by the professionals.
The customer is a businesswoman from the mid Seriana Valley, used to travelling a lot, a great lover of art and antiquities; what she was looking for was a cosy environment when returning to her beloved city after long journeys. Architect Daniela Mannucci Benincasa thus studied the interior design, creating a material box in which works of art and antique rugs can stand out.

Material textures and works of art

The walls are clad in cement resin, mirror and raw iron, the roof is white-washed. Parquet floors warm the room except in the kitchen, where stoneware has been chosen to create a monochrome space with the resin walls. The walls of the sunken terrace are clad with Mutina. The glossy lacquered doors stand out against the resin, as do the textured and top quality glass doors to the living area. This box contains design furniture such as the Poliform kitchen with Sidney Stone worktop, the sofa and footstool by Flexform, the sideboard by B&B Italia and others. The lighting, designed by architect Massimo Castagna, was custom-made by incorporating spotlights and LEDs in the beams. Henge suspension lamps are the stars of the living area. Care has been taken over every detail in the bathrooms, which were also the subject of the project: from the wall coverings to the lighting, right down to the custom-made marble clad furniture. In the sunken terrace, you can admire a view of the city and relax on the B&B Italia Outdoor armchairs.
