Simbiosi Collection – Suspension lamp

Simbiosi by Davide Groppi is a pendant lamp that brings an idea of free, almost immaterial light into the space. Designed by Davide Groppi in 2015, it takes the form of a deconstructed chandelier, in which the individual light sources seem to float in the space, connected by an extremely thin, almost invisible wire. The project takes shape through the possibility of connecting multiple LED light sources in series using very low electrical currents. The technology disappears from view, leaving only the points of light to emerge and creating a light and dynamic composition. The wire itself, an apparently secondary element, becomes an essential part of the project: it connects the individual elements and allows light to establish a relationship with the space. Simbiosi interprets the pendant lamp as a collection of points of light rather than a single volume. The light sources can thus define ever-changing geometries, adapting to the architecture and complementing dining tables, dining areas or spaces dedicated to conviviality without weighing them down. Davide Groppi’s research once again focuses on reduction: a few elements, discreet technology and precise light create an object in which the form seems almost to dissolve. Simbiosi thus becomes an essential luminous presence, capable of influencing the perception of space without visually occupying it. A project that expresses a contemporary approach to lighting, where compositional freedom and structural lightness transform light into an architectural element.
