Simple and unexpected everyday elements converge to create beauty. One day, Marcel Wanders had the bizarre idea of designing a porcelain accessory with the soft and sinuous shape of a stack of eggs. But what kind of object could it become? And how could it give the desired shape? In the end two brilliant ideas were born: why not boil a pile of eggs, insert them into rubber condoms to protect them and shape the porcelain around them? And why not create a bizarre, soft and durable egg-shaped vase? In a few minutes, a revolutionary idea took shape and soon after the Egg Vase came to life, becoming part of people’s homes, offices and lives.
