Light, relationship, and the measure of dwelling
The project stems from a relationship nurtured over time, built on trust and attentive listening, and unfolds as an ongoing dialogue capable of interpreting an evolving lifestyle. The apartment, located in the heart of Bergamo, is set within a renovated building between the lower and upper city, featuring bright views and terraces that extend the living space outdoors. It is a project of completion and reinterpretation that enhances existing spaces, supporting living with freedom, practicality, and quality. Light becomes the guiding principle of the design: both natural and artificial, an invisible structure that connects the spaces and defines their rhythm. A luminous, open home where black and white converse with neutral materials and a curated collection of objects that tell a personal story. The project thrives on carefully measured materials and consistent choices. The color palette remains essential, based on neutral tones, punctuated with a few thoughtfully calibrated accents.
Living in the light, inside and out
The interior spaces flow seamlessly, without rigid separations, reflecting a fluid and informal daily life. The layout is natural, free of strict hierarchies, designed for a family that inhabits the home with ease, adapting it to their needs without constraints. The furnishings tell a story of layering: iconic pieces inherited from previous homes, new additions carefully selected, bathrooms redesigned with attention to detail and the tactile quality of materials. Nothing is displayed for show—everything is conceived to be lived in, touched, and used over time. The kitchen welcomes immediately, designed to accommodate both lived moments and quick pauses, while the living area maintains balance and openness, featuring a Baxter sofa, Vitra elements, and a B&B rug, complemented by a Porro console. Lighting by Davide Groppi traverses the spaces like a delicate thread, dematerializing the object and leaving room for what truly matters: the light itself. With subtlety and graphic strength, it defines the rhythm of the spaces, emphasizes the ceilings, and interacts with natural light cuts, achieving a delicate balance between presence and absence. Bedrooms and bathrooms continue this natural flow, featuring elements by Agape and Boffi, Kasthall rugs, and thoughtfully detailed lighting solutions. The project extends outdoors with terraces furnished by Paola Lenti, Roda, and Kettal, designed as genuine extensions of living—places for socializing as well as moments of pause. The result is a home to be inhabited naturally, where interiors and exteriors converse in harmony, and the design supports daily life with discretion and continuity. A sunlit home: a place where beauty is everyday, understated, and profoundly human.
